New Security Features in GST Portal
The GST system is constantly being improved to make it more secure and transparent for taxpayers like you. Soon, two important features will be introduced to protect your data and keep you informed whenever your GST information is accessed by third-party service providers.
Who are ASPs and GSPs?
Before we explain the update, here’s a quick refresher:
- ASP (Application Suvidha Provider): These are third-party software providers that help taxpayers file GST returns and manage GST data.
- GSP (GST Suvidha Provider): These are authorized partners of the GST System who give ASPs access to GST data through secure APIs (digital communication channels).
What’s Changing?
Instant Email/SMS Alerts When ASP Accesses Your Data
Whenever you allow an ASP to access your GST data by entering an OTP (One-Time Password), you (the authorised signatory) will immediately receive an alert on your email and/or mobile number.
The notification will include:
- Name of the ASP and the GSP used
- Date & Time when you gave OTP consent
- How long this access will be valid
This will help you stay informed and spot any unauthorized access quickly.
Option to View and Revoke ASP/GSP Access from GST Portal
Soon, the GST portal will also have a new feature where you can:
- See a complete history of which ASPs and GSPs accessed your data
- Revoke access to any ASP you no longer want to share data with
This means you’ll have full control over who can see your GST information.
When Will These Features Be Available?
The exact date for the launch of these features will be announced soon through another official update or advisory from GSTN. Stay tuned to the GST portal or official communication channels.
Why This Matters to You
